About me

My name is Justin Grigg, and I am the news editor at the Missoulian newspaper in Missoula, Mont.

I have lived in Missoula since 1999 and am an avid hiker, cross-country skier and snowshoer, and I usually carry my camera along with me on my adventures.

In the spring and summer, I write the Wildflower Walks column and this blog. I also post updates to my Twitter feed.

Join me on my forays into the forest!

    Hi,
This is so cool, I am a trekking guide in the Alps & my bro lives in Missoula so I just stumbled upon your site and am psyched to feel connected to the wild flowers that are around him!
I specialise in hut to hut walks in the summer and try to include as much geology, flora (including how to eat wild stuff), fauna, hydrology, whatever we see into the walks to make people aware of all the beauty around us! In the winter I snowshoe with clients and right now the winter has been soooo cold here (Verbier, Switzerland) that the flora is 3 weeks behind normal. The crocuses are juuuuuuust starting to poke out!
    Happy Spring!

    Hi Justin
I am Cherries’ brother. Like your site. Any interest in coming up to the Lodge and snowshoeing? Still another 3 months of winter up there before the wildflowers begin. And then they come in droves.
Get in touch with me if you are interested.

    Hello,

Excellent site! Asking for advice. Headed to Montana this summer (Bitterroots, Snowcrest Range and Gravelly Range) and would like to ask about your thoughts on catching decent wildflower blooms in light of the dry winter and spring you all seem to be having. Should we plan earlier then mid-July or later? What do you think?

    Best regards,
    Michael

Nice site, Justin. Are you aware that “forays” into our inner-city forests and groves are being threatened by a bad-trendy-science move on the part of Parks and Recreation to “eradicate” (their term and they are sticking to it) Norway maples? No scientific basis other than anecdotal hyperbole from Greenough Park. Foray fast…the forests accessable to children and the elderly just got thinner and more clogged with CO2.

HI Justin, we are starting a Five Valleys Outdoor Ministry, would you be willing to lead us on wildflower walks periodically to share in our earth’s and the Lord’s glory?
    Mike
